Special thanks to Rabiddog Gaming for hooking us up with our own public & private Ventrilo channels FREE of charge!
Nnd no, ventrilo is usually not responsible for lag. I barely uses any bandwidth so it's only a problem if you have a bad connection (ie: dial-up, wireless) to begin with. _________________
do you know if I can just listen to what you are saying on ventrillo until i get an acual headset? or is it possible for me to type and to have windows(or a 3rd party aplication) say what I what i was saying
example: Elnino says,"Where are you from."
I type California. Program says California
You could use the text-to-speech (TTS) option when you do a comment but it transmits the message the entire server and that will get you banned especially if you are using that to talk. You could also use TTS binds but it would not be very practical for carrying a conversation, and it could also get you banned if people start complaining about it.
Ventrilo does have a chat system and you could have the person enable TTS to hear what you are typing (that's their own preference). The downside is only the people who are are in the server's chat room (or are in your private chat session) will be able to hear what you are saying.
So to sum it up, there's really no point in using Vent unless you have a mic to speak (unless you just want to listen). It's voice communication software after all... _________________
